Implementation of Sensor System for Automotive Crash Prediction

چکیده
This paper focuses on the use of magneto resistive and sonar sensors for imminent collision detection in cars. The magneto resistive sensors are used to measure the magnetic field from another vehicle in close proximity, to estimate relative position, velocity, and orientation of the vehicle from the measurements. Here the sonar sensor is mainly used to measure the distance only for medium inter vehicle distances whereas for small intervehicle distances magneto resistive sensors are used. A magneto resistive sensor detects the vehicle based on the magnetic field. An operating system is also used to carry on the necessary steps after the distance is measured which predicts the crash of two vehicles.

Assessing the residual teen crash risk factors after graduated drivers license implementation.
Graduated driving licensing laws are now in place in all 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia. However, despite stricter supervised driving requirements, restrictions on the number of passengers, and earlier nighttime driving curfews, teen drivers continue to be at a higher crash risk than the adult driving population. The National Motor Vehicle Crash Causation Survey (NMVCCS) dataset wa...
متن کاملCrash-related mortality and model year: are newer vehicles safer?
OBJECTIVE The objective of this study was to determine whether occupants of newer vehicles experience a lower risk of crash-related mortality. METHODS The occurrence of death was studied in relation to vehicle model year (MY) among front seat vehicular occupants, age ≥ 16 captured in the National Automotive Sampling System Crashworthiness Data System (NASS-CDS) between 2000 and 2008. The asso...
متن کاملMotorcycles that See: Multifocal Stereo Vision Sensor for Advanced Safety Systems in Tilting Vehicles
Advanced driver assistance systems, ADAS, have shown the possibility to anticipate crash accidents and effectively assist road users in critical traffic situations. This is not the case for motorcyclists, in fact ADAS for motorcycles are still barely developed. Our aim was to study a camera-based sensor for the application of preventive safety in tilting vehicles. We identified two road conflic...
متن کاملA modern diagnostic approach for automobile systems condition monitoring
An important topic in automotive research and development is the area of active and passive safety systems. In general, it is grouped in active safety systems to prevent accidents and passive systems to reduce the impact of a crash. An example for an active system is ABS while a seat belt tensioner represents the group of passive systems. Current developments in the automotive industry try to l...
متن کاملInfluence of the Missing Vehicle and Cdc Only Delta-v Reconstruction Algorithms for Prediction of Occupant Injury Risk
Delta-V, the change in velocity of a vehicle, is a widely used predictor of occupant injury in vehicle collisions. In real world crashes, delta-V is commonly estimated from measurements of vehicle deformation using absorbed energy based methods. The accuracy of these estimates is highly dependent on the availability of deformation measurements for both vehicles involved in a crash. Specialized ...
